INCIDENT REPORTING & PROTOCOL

In the event of a health and safety incident on base please follow the procedure below.

An incident could include but is not limited to:

  • Medical emergency or injury

  • Fire

  • Structural damage to building

  • Break-in and theft

  • Verbal or Physical Aggressive Behavior 

  • Sexual Assault

INJURY

  1. Call First Aider. Is first aid required? Can it be applied by the first aider? Does it need stitches? - take to Medicross or False Bay Hospital.

  2. If needed call Cape Medical Response.

  3. Call the school leader of the injured person.

  4. Once resolved fill out the report Form.

Fire

  1. Can you put it out with a fire extinguisher?

  2. Do Not Use Fire Hose - for Fire Department Only?

  3. Call Fire Department & Sanel Stoneman.

  4. Once resolved fill out incident Report Form.

BREAK IN OR THEFT

  1. Call the Mountain Men

  2. If injured call Cape Medical Response

  3. For debriefing - call the school leader/ department leader. If needed they will call specialized leaders for debriefing.

  4. Once resolved fill out Incident Report Form.

verbal/physical Aggressive

  1. If aggressive behavior escalates separate those involved and call the school leader & department leaders at once. In the case of a physical assault legal actions may be taken.

  2. If injured call Cape Medical Response.

  3. Assess the next steps and the need for further debriefing with the school leader & department leader paying particular concern to all students both emotional and physical safety and begin student disciplinary protocols. If necessary the school leader or department leader will call in specialized debriefers.

  4. Once resolved fill out Incident Report form.
